Change of Plans

January 3, 2011

Happy New Year everyone! How are those New Year's resolutions going?

One of my New Year's resolutions is to change up some of the decor in my house. I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again: I'm over my black, white and red phase and am planning on working with new colors as the months go on!

The first room I'm starting with is our living room since it's the most used room in our house. For those of you that are new to my blog (HIIIIIII!!!), here's a glimpse at my living room all decorated for Christmas:

A few weeks ago I had blogged about looking for a new ceiling fan for the room but I'm going a different route and here's why...

Our current ceiling fan is a dust magnet and when it's turned on, dust goes flying all over the room. No matter how many times a week (or month) I clean it, it's always looking dirty and it's an eye-sore. I have a feeling that the same thing is going to happen with a new ceiling fan and I don't want to take any chances.

My boyfriend and I had a lightbulb moment and decided to buy a really great pendant lamp that would make a statement and replace the fan with one of those sleek, thin fans that sits on the floor. Problem solved :)

So over the weekend we headed up north to IKEA in Tempe and picked up one of these pendant lamps I've been eyeing since they were released over a year ago:

We haven't had a chance to put it together yet since we need to have our maintenance man come take down our current fan but I can tell you that the Maskros Pendant lamp is HUGE - 32" in diameter to be exact! And it's going to be perfect, I can feel it :)
