The End of An Era

Painting our powder room has turned into a much bigger project than I anticipated but we're almost done and I'm 90% positive that I'll have an update on it tomorrow!

In other news: last night, after 5 years of waiting, I finally got an iPhone! And it's an iPhone 5 to boot!

I feel like I'm the last person on Earth to get an iPhone but I was in a contract with T-Mobile for those 5 years so I've always had an Android phone even though I'm an Apple girl at heart.

My boyfriend has a contract with Sprint so he suggested that I switch to his plan when my T-Mobile contract ended. It was over on September 25th and that night we headed to Sprint so I could put my name on their waiting list. They called me last night to let me know that they had a black 32GB iPhone 5 on had if I still wanted it so we swung by and picked it up!

I've had it less than 24 hours but I'm already so in love with it. I've installed a few apps (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) but I'd love your suggestions on what else to install!

Do you have an iPhone? What are your favorite apps? Any suggestions on where to buy cute cases?

  1. I still use my Droid X that is over two years old. Don't know if I'll ever get an iphone or any new phone! They're too expensive! I use the Craigslist app a lot - it is actually better than going to their website because it shows you a preview photo in the list of items (whereas on the website, you have to click on each item to see what it looks like).

  2. Congrats on making the switch! I don't know what I would do without my iPhone. Here's a master list.... the top apps I tend to use:

    - facebook, pinterest, twitter, facebook pages (to manage the facebook accounts for companies I do social media for), wordpress

    - instagram, and then for fun I've tried out Pic Collage, Photosynth, I'd Cap That, Cinemagram, and Jittergram... if you have time those are some fun photo apps you should check out!

    - soundhound (like shazam but better), pandora

    - I probably waste the most time playing Blitz, Angry Birds, Words With Friends, Draw Something, Solitaire, Sudoku, and a few other random card/puzzle games. (what?! I have to ride on the subway every moring and night!)

    - The Daily is one of my favorites, but I read them on the iPad. I also installed G-Whizz! -- this is how I get access to my Google Reader (how I subscribe to YOU! and a million others), but its great for any other google apps you may use, if you have a gmail. I also use MyWeather for the best weather info, and i have iReddit for when I feel like wasting time.

-seamless, Open Table, Yelp, Urbanspoon, and I also have the Chipotle app so I can order ahead of time

    - I have a check-in app for my gym (so handy so I don't have to bring my membership card around), and then I've tried out Livestrong if you're interested in a calorie counter. I also used the Couch to 5k and Couch to 10k app a few years ago, loved it bc it works with my music playing on my phone.

    - My fiance and I are slowly looking around for our first home, so we have apps for Zillow and the like. When we were looking for our current apartment, we used Padmapper and Nestio.

    - dropbox (!!!), ebay, craigslist, amazon, my bank's app (bank of america), timesheet (so I can keep track of my hours separately from my employer), and then a few wedding-related apps, including one for our gift registry and another for the knot, since we're planning that this year!

gah that was long; I spend way too much time on my phone it appears. Hope this helps you though!

  3. You already have my top three apps! I also love the amazon, Etsy, and YouTube apps, too!

  4. Crystal: Craigslist app, yes! I knew I was forgetting one haha

Jane: WOW! Thank you so much for that detailed list! I've already downloaded SoundHound and G-Whizz and I'm going to download a ton more on my lunch! :D

Joi: Ah, yes! No idea how I forgot those ones haha I'm blaming it on the excitement ;)

  5. How exciting for you! I have had an iPhone for the last 5 years and I LOVE it! Will never have another phone! There are so many great apps! I love Pandora for all of my music! I don't think I ever listen to my itunes anymore. And I do like SoundHound, but I use pandora more. I also love Hey Tell. It is a voice messaging app that just records you message and sends it to any of your contacts that have Hey Tell. I use this ALL OF THE TIME!! It is perfect for driving or when your text is too long but you dont really want to call the person!

  6. I can't believe I didn't mention iHEARTradio - love it
