Over the weekend my boyfriend and I traveled 9,157 feet up to the top of Mt. Lemmon.
It's hard to describe how beautiful the mountain is but the views are breathtaking and it's fun to look out onto the city from the cliffs:
Tree covered mountain sides:
There's plenty of rocks to climb if you're feeling adventurous :)
The higher you travel up the mountain, the more the scenery changes:
I wanted to haul this fallen tree home with us so we could cut it up and make a couple of tree stump side tables out of it but then I snapped back to reality and realized that it was 15+ feet long and probably weighed a ton (literally). Needless to say, my DIY dreams were shattered haha
When we got to the small town at the top of the mountain (Summerhaven), we saw SNOW!!!
I haven't seen snow up close and personal since I moved 4 years ago so this was a nice reminder of home :)
The snow wasn't the only thing that reminded me of home:
The frigid, below freezing temperature did too! Brrrrrrr!
As we were driving back down the mountain, the sun was beginning to set so we stopped on the side of the road a few times to snap some pictures.
Pretty city lights :)
Why'd we make the trip? For free pinecones, of course! After they dry out, I'm planning on using these in our Thanksgiving tablescape :)
Speaking of my tablescape: I'm working like a little Thanksgiving elf (pilgrim?) DIY'ing my heart out so posts may be a little lighter than normal this week. Just a heads up :)
What'd you do over the weekend? Take any mini road trips?
