On Friday night, my boyfriend and some friends headed up to Tempe to see Watsky perform on the first night of his Cardboard Castles tour:
I'm not much of a concert person anymore (guess I'm getting old haha) so we sat in a lounge area in the back to watch the show. We could see everything and didn't have to deal with people bumping into us which was nice! We stayed after the show to meet Watsky before making the long and rainy trek back home.
Saturday was spent shopping with my mom. I got this awesome piece of abstract art from HomeGoods:
Please ignore the iPhone photo...
I hung it in our powder room yesterday but I don't think it's going to stay there after we hang our "new" mirror. We'll see though!
When I saw the art, I knew it was coming home with me regardless of the price. Thankfully it was only $80 haha I checked the back of it to make sure it was in good condition when I saw a Post-it note stuck to the frame. It said "Will pick up 3/6/13 after noon" meaning the print had previously been put on hold for someone. Saturday was the 9th so obviously the person never came back for it or decided they didn't want it after all. One of the employees must have put it back out for sale in time for me to snatch it up! ;)
Speaking of purchases, my second Nate Berkus dhurrie rug arrived last week:
Ironically I got the new rug to replace the same one we had in our living room (shown above). The one we had in there got super dirty from people stepping on the edges :( We flipped it over and moved it to the dining room which doesn't get much use. When the "new" side gets dirty, we'll have both sides professionally cleaned.
I haven't rolled out the new rug yet because I made myself promise that I wouldn't until we get a sectional or two couches so we can push more of the rug towards the window (under the couch/sectional's chaise) so people won't step on the edge as much. I don't know if that'll help at all but that's the plan!
The following books also showed up on my doorstep over the weekend:
I've wanted Design*Sponge and Decorate since they came out in 2011 but never bought them for whatever reason. I haven't had a chance to sit down and read through any of them but I hope to soon!
How was your weekend? Get any fun things in the mail or while out shopping?
