Alvine Ruta Loft Rug

My heart goes out to those affected by the bombings in Boston yesterday.

Last Monday I mentioned that I was planning on getting IKEA's Alvine Ruta rug for our loft. Even though I thought it'd be a couple of months before we got it, we actually brought it home with us two days later on my birthday!

I took the day off from work so my boyfriend and I could head up North to Phoenix. We stopped for breakfast at a place that was featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives and then we made our way over to IKEA to get the rug and some other things.

I L-O-V-E it! I've wanted this rug for a while now and I'm so happy it's finally mine:

I wish I could pan up higher in this shot but we're working on a secret project behind the chair on the left! I hope to have it finished by this weekend so I can share it with you next week :)

This new addition means that the loft is now 90% complete! The only thing we still need to add is a ceiling fan and then the room will be done! Did I just say that?!

What do you think of our new rug? Can you believe the room is almost finished?!

  2. it looks great. I am always nervous to put carpet over carpet, but you totally pulled it off. I also love that little white rhino - it looks like he is pushing the book off the stack :)

  4. I love that pattern with the rest of your furniture. I have been stroking that carpet at IKEA's before. It's really great. I love how this whole room is coming together!

  5. Thanks Julia! I'm sure our loft will be "finished" for a few months before I go in and start tweaking things haha

Thanks Kelly! Glad you caught the rhino's trick! I intentionally set him up like that because I thought it was funny but no one noticed (except you!) haha

    Thanks Amber! It's finished-ish...for now ;)

    Thanks Crystal! :)

Thanks Katja! You should get it if you have room for it! It's not very soft underfoot but if you're wearing socks, the scratchiness isn't noticeable.

  6. Hi Caitlin!

I'm a new follower of your blog, living up north in Phoenix (Gilbert). Loving everything you've been doing with your home. It's so nice to find someone in the blog world from Arizona with similar design opportunities.

The rug looks great! I have got to get over to Ikea and check out their rug options!

BTW - which restaurant did you do to? I would love to check it out. ;-)

  7. Hi there! Definitely visit IKEA's rug section when you get a chance! There were a few other rugs I wanted to take home but don't really need right now so they stayed behind haha

We went to Matt's Big Breakfast on the corner of Garfield and First Street in downtown Phoenix. The parking is semi-limited and I've heard the wait time can be up to an hour on the weekends so try to go on a weekday if you can. They're only open until 2:30 though! We ended up getting there around 1:30 and were seated right away. Service was super fast and the food was delicious! Let me know if you check it out :)
