Friday Few

I think April burned me out a little bit because I have no desire to do anything around the house lately. I don't know if it's the rising temperatures or the fact that I simply don't know what to do but whatever the case may be, I thought I'd update you on a few of the little things that have been going on around here.

#1: Ceiling Fans

Our ceiling fans were delivered on Wednesday and we've sort of started to install them. We ran into a bit of a problem when we didn't realize where to drill the mount into. Thankfully I had my one year walk through yesterday and our construction supervisor showed me what to do and got the one mount screwed into the living room ceiling.

We were going to attempt to hang the fans ourselves but they're like 100 lbs. Not really, they're only 28 lbs but still. We don't want to mess anything up and have them come crashing down on us at night so we're going to pay our guy $45 to have them installed. Not too bad if you ask me!

#2: Patio Furniture

Bye-bye old IKEA furniture! We bought some new patio furniture last night! We actually went a little nuts buying stuff haha

We took the money we had saved from the refund Target gave us and bought two chairs, a coffee table, a dining table, and two benches for the dining table. When we got home, I ordered a couch that matches the chairs (it was online only) and a different set of dining chairs because I'm unsure of the benches and they may be going back.

I'll share all of the details next week along with the plans I have for our new outdoor dining area :)

#3: Dining Room 3.0?

Speaking of dining rooms, I'm thinking about re-doing our dining room. Again. I know, I'm crazy haha

I don't plan on buying any new furniture, just maybe a new rug and a new piece of art (DIY something?) to replace the crystal one with. These feelings may be caused by the summer season that's upon us but I don't know, I'm kind of just feeling something a little brighter and a lot less neutral. I haven't really thought this decision through though so we'll see what happens!

What's happening in your neck of the woods? Any fun weekend plans?

  1. we're in the process of doing our balcony as well! we got awesome deep bench seating -- and we almost didn't get it cuz of our experience. But I kept at it, and i've been finding my husband lying on it when i get home from work. hmmph. stealing my spot. now i just need to add flowers -- that's a dilemma in itself!

just mounting a light in itself was one of the most simple yet complicated thing we ever had to do, i can only imagine what it's like installing a fan! smart call on having someone else do it for you!

i really like your dining room. so simple yet elegant!

  3. There is just something about dining rooms with us!! I'm about to embark on Dining Room 4.0 (in terms of paint, I've never really been able to decorate it well yet).

You did go crazy with furniture! Can't wait to see it!

    Thanks Julia, you too!

Crystal - My conclusion is that dining rooms are just hard haha

It really is Caroline! What plans do you have for your dining room?

Kelly - Which rooms are you guys planning on redoing?! Please don't say that pretty laundry room of yours!

  7. Your poor dining room is going to have an identity crisis. ;) Glad to know someone is more into changing up decor than I am. I hear you on the house slump. I need money to grow on trees!

  8. How about adding some brass nail head trim to the chairs to tie in with your brass barcart and the color in the rug and then a coloful abstract framed in brass? that would brighten up the area for very little $. Looking forward to seeing your back patio.
