New Living Room Couch

Quick announcement before we get to today's post!

Voting in the Better Homes & Gardens' first-annual Blogger Awards ends today and the winner's will be announced on Friday!

You don't have to sign up for an account to vote and you can vote once an hour. It would mean so much to me if you could vote for my underdog blog! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)

Although we ordered our living room couch in the beginning of November and it arrived the day after Christmas (a full month ahead of schedule!), this is the first time I'm blogging about it.

We love it but we're still getting used to it to be honest. It's very comfortable but it's not as deep as our old couch. It also feels a little more formal than our old one did and sometimes I don't feel like I can relax on it like I used to do on our old couch.

I placed the console table that used to be in our dining room behind it:

I'm not really sure how to style it since anything I place on it can be seen from the front and the back. I added a bowl and a giant cork doorstop to it for now but I was thinking about adding a pair of table lamps or a floor lamp or something.

I also draped the vintage Mexican blanket we used as our Christmas tree skirt over the back of the couch and layered a faux sheepskin on top of it. It adds a little color and texture and helps break up all of the blue.

If you look closely in one of the photos above, you can see a small sneak peek of the chairs we got for the room! I'll be sharing those with you on Friday :)

  1. I really like it!! I wonder if maybe a pillow on either side, or a throw over the front might relax it up a bit? Excited to see the chairs!

    1. Thanks Stephanie! I'd love to add pillows to the couch but we always end up tossing them off when we sit on it haha

  2. Actually just came over from voting for you this morning!
And I really would love to have a blue couch like your but a white cat and the dark blue don't go hand in hand ;)
It's so so pretty and I'm jealous ;)

    1. Thanks Julia! I didn't really think about the pet hair issue until it was delivered. It's a pet hair magnet! We're constantly going over it with a lint roller and some fancy pet hair remover tool we got at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's kind of a pain but the couch is really pretty so we just deal with it most of the time haha

  3. i love it! i agree it wasn't as deep as our last couch, BUT our last one was as wide a a twin bed (for real) so i didn't think much of the difference! :) i LOVE the color of yours! i so wanted blue but with all the white fur in our house.... a light color was needed!

    1. That's how deep our last couch was too Cassie! We have lots of light fur in our house too and we didn't even think about how much of a fur magnet the velvet was going to be. Let's just say we own a lot of lint rollers haha

  4. That is such a nice deep blue color. It looks really great. I am sure you will come up with the perfect styling of it as you always do. I love the sheepskin with it. It is such a nice texture. Can't wait to see the new chairs.
I voted for you every time I remembered :)

  11. I agree with Caroline! Super sexy!! I think there should be a rule in regard to new furniture. I always feel super uncomfortable and nervous about new furniture until about the 3-month mark and then I give in, love it more and feel more comfortable in it. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's new. You'll get used to it!
