Second Houseiversary

Today marks the second year of living in our house! Sometimes it's hard to believe that this place we call home is actually ours.

I still remember when our living room looked like this after we moved in:

Now it looks like this (squint and imagine our new coffee table in our old ones place):

It's taken us two years to get to where we are today, which is far from where we'll probably be in another two years. I remember wanting to rush everything after we moved in. We hardly had any furniture and I was so desperate to have our home "done" that I remember thinking about opening a credit card and charging everything we needed (well, wanted) to it. I'm so happy I didn't because I love how our home has evolved month after month, little by little, a few purchases at a time.

We still have a long list of things we'd like to do but we're not rushing into anything. In the past two years we've learned that everything takes longer than expected and home ownership can suck sometimes. Take our bee infestation on Memorial Day as an example. We've had our fair share of ups and downs in the past two years but at the end of the day, there's no place we'd rather be!

Happy second anniversary house! We LOVE calling you home :)

  1. Isn't it crazy how long it takes? I've noticed many of the things I rushed into I later regretted [like a paint color and design decision]. It took me a long time to figure out what my style is and now I feel like my home doesnt reflect my taste! Thats life. I hope you got that bee situation under control!

  3. Congrats on two years! We just moved into our new house (our first house ever) and I'm feeling a lot like you were in the beginning---I just want to buy, buy, buy and be done!

  7. Happy houseiversary! Love watching how your room evolve! I can definitely relate to the feeling of wanting everything done, but you know nothing will ever be done for people like us! :)

  8. I'm glad I'm not the only one who celebrates house-iversaries. My heart has been hurting since we moved out. I can't tell you how many times I've cried. It's actually really embarrassing.
