Console Table Options

On Monday I showed you the wedding date art I made for a blank wall in our bedroom.

I mentioned that I wanted to find something to go beneath it and today I’m back with some options!

Ideally the table will act as a vanity but let’s be honest – it’ll probably end up being another place for me to display all of my tchotchkes haha

My first option is CB2’s Peekaboo console table:

I love how it would visually disappear into the wall keeping the focus on the art. I’ve lusted over this table for a while now but it’s a little too short and more than I'd like to spend on something you can barely see haha It also seems very delicate and I’d probably have a mini heart attack if the acrylic got scratched (which it inevitably will)!

My next option is West Elm’s sculpted geo console table:

It’s also over my budget (in case you haven't noticed, I have champagne taste on a beer budget haha) but I love the funky drawers and the extra storage it would provide for hair and makeup accessories in case I decide to use the spot as a vanity.

The most budget-friendly option would be the console table we have behind our couch in our living room:

The dimensions are almost perfect (it could be a little wider) and the gold would add a little warmth to our bedroom. Unfortunately, I only have one table (can someone please figure out how to clone furniture?!) and I really like how it looks behind our couch…even if it is a little too short width-wise.

I’ve been checking out thrift stores and keeping an eye on Craigslist but I haven’t seen anything pop up lately. Well, that’s not true. I saw the CB2 on Craigslist for $75 (!!!) but I was too late and it sold :(

Another budget-friendly option would be to hang a shelf (like the LACK floating shelf from IKEA) on the wall instead of putting a table in front of it.

I could put some baskets underneath it which could hold all the extra pillows I tend to pile up on our bed. It's shallower than a table which would leave extra room for one of our doors to swing open too. However, we have 3 picture ledges on the other side of the wall so maybe another shelf would be too much?

What are your thoughts?

  1. I like the gold one (#3) hands down. Without seeing the rest of the room, I'd say this corner would benefit from either gold or wood tones to warm it up. I know you like the clean look of the artwork, but maybe you could paint gold campaign-like brackets to the corners that would help "marry" the artwork and table. I don't think the other options add much and the scale is way off on the CB2. Your sofa would benefit from a longer/wider console. Maybe you could make one 😁. Congrats on the nuptials!

  2. I just bought the CB2 Peekaboo acrylic coffee table, and it's already scratched :( You can't see it, but I know it's there and it bothers me. So, scratches will definitely happen! I've also seen an exact dupe for the West Elm console table at HomeGoods for $199 in my area. Same colors and everything!

  3. I would start rolling my pennies and use your West Elm designer discount and get the one from West Elm. The geometric design is so you from what I can tell by your blog and the drawers make it less living room and more bedroom.

  4. I like the geo table best, but the ledge + baskets is also a really great idea!

  5. I have the pekaboo console table and LOVE IT!! It is already scratched in a few places but nobody notices except for me. I am selfishly hoping you pick it so I can see how you style it. I can't find any good resources or examples online for styling the pekaboo. PS first time commenter I lOVE YOUR BLOG!!!
