Thrift Score Thursday: Corner Campaign Desk

A few days before New Years Eve, my husband and I stopped by the same thrift shop I got my vintage nesting tables from to poke around and see what they had.

I’m pretty sure I bought all of the brass they had the last time I was there because their knick-knack selection was lacking. However, in their furniture section, I spotted this corner campaign desk:

It seemed to be in great shape with only a few minor chips here and there. I pulled one of the drawers out to see if I could find any markings and although I didn't find any, I did see a large sticker for a local plumbing company haha

I didn't spend a lot of time investigating the desk because we couldn't think of a place to put it in our home. Based on the shiny finish of the wood, I'm guessing it's made of veneer. If I bought it, I would have sanded it down and repainted it.

Anyway, there wasn’t a price on it and I didn’t think to ask what it was because we didn't plan on buying it. This particular place sells their furniture for dirt cheap though (my nesting tables were only $23!) so I’m guessing the desk would’ve been priced at $40 maybe?

I’ve never seen a corner campaign desk before! Even though we didn't end up buying it, I thought I’d share my find :)

Have you ever loved and left something behind at the thrift store before?

  1. You always find the greatest stuff in thrift stores. The ones in my area (Chandler) seem to constantly be lacking. :-( Boo. Maybe my problem is that I am pretty inconsistent about checking them.

    1. I'm not very consistent with checking them either! Do you mostly shop at the chain thrift stores (Goodwill, Saver's, etc.)? I've had some really good luck shopping at little locally owned places! Also, try checking on Craigslist. In Tucson, local thrift stores will post their furniture so you can see what they have before stopping in!

    2. I follow a couple of the local ones on CL, but DAMN their stuff goes fast! By the time I get off work and drive down there, it's gone. Big city livin' (tiny violin). :-)

  2. Yes, my biggest regret...as far as thirfting goes. It was a mirrored circle brass tray.. $29 and it was beautiful. I later saw a similar version online and it was like 70 bucks : {

    1. That sounds amazing! I hate looking stuff up after I leave it behind, especially when it's something you didn't think would be expensive but actually is!

  3. I agree you have a great eye for design on your hunts. I love this desk! I am in the market for a thrift store desk and this one is so beautiful. I love the hardware. I would have painted it High Gloss Emerald Green OooOo! My inspiration:

    1. Thanks Amanda! I love that emerald green desk. If they had two, we would have bought them for our office upgrade! Maybe I'll go back this weekend to see if another one was dropped off :)
