DIY Mystery Supply Challenge: Ornament Reveal

Happy Monday!

Today is the day me and 10 other bloggers reveal our DIY Mystery Supply Challenge ornaments!

DIY Mystery Supply Challenge: Christmas Edition

Before we get to that, I have some exciting news to share!!!

I'm engaged! :D

Oh anddd the ornament I made for this challenge ruined my fiancé's perfect proposal plans :(

Let me explain!

Yesterday was our 6 year anniversary and my boyfriend had planned on proposing to me on top of Mt. Lemmon – a mountain we frequently visit throughout the year and have been to twice in the past month alone. We were going to meet up with his brother and his sister-in-law to grab a cookie at a cookie cabin they have up there and take some photos.

Welllll, I have terrible time management skills and waited until yesterday afternoon (!!!) to work on my ornament. Despite my best efforts to work fast, I knew I was running out of time and daylight so I told him to let his brother know that I couldn't make it and to go without me.

Long story short, he couldn't wait to propose any longer so he popped the question in our dining room as I was walking outside to spray paint my ornament! I felt absolutely horrible after he explained his plans (still do) but he was happy things worked out the way they did because he was so nervous! :)

Anyway, my ornament was inspired by this paperweight from CB2:

I loved the pattern and thought I'd recreate it on an ornament!

I used the following supplies:

Supplies shown:
  • Clear glass ornament
  • Red glitter ribbon
  • Sharpie paint pen

Supplies not shown:
  • White paint made for glass
  • Painter's tape

Faux snow was also one of the mystery supplies but I didn't end up using it.

I started by turning my ornament white with this paint trick:

I taped off the bottom half of my ornament:

And spray painted it gold:

I used my Sharpie paint pen to doodle the design of the paperweight on the top half of the ornament!

Check out the blogger's ornaments!

Big, huge, excited YAY about your engagement! And love the ornament, too--I feel kind of bad for it having to compete for room in this post with both your engagement and the cookie cabin ;)
